My Eleventh Project - NZ landscape

My eleventh project is a small and quick project when I was on a week vacation in New Zealand.

I planned to present my sister and host a painting as a surprise gift. I brought a canvas for the painting from Malaysia (not too large), so that it could fit in the luggage bag. I also brought a compact set of acrylic paints in 12 colours. After having bought some brushes at a local store, it seemed that I was ready for the task.

I googled for an image of a New Zealand landscape and found this interesting and beautiful photo.

On the second day after our arrival in New Zealand, our family went on a trip to several tourist spots in Rotorua and Taupo. The preparation of the canvas was done at the motel where we stayed in Rotorua. The next day, when we were already at the Anchorage Resort in Taupo, I started the sketching process.

Painting with acrylic paints started quickly after.

I finished the painting and presented it to my sister Sakinah a few hours before I departed back to Malaysia.

Even though the results was not entirely perfect, the whole painting experience was intriguing.

The final painting:

It seemed that the painting has received a severe assessment from the critic... Xena the Worrier Cat...

Only several weeks later I learned that the image I downloaded for the painting was of a scene at Milford Sound, southern island of New Zealand. I  wish I will have the chance to visit this place one day.
